February 11 HolidayBeen on holiday for the past 4 days.. chinese new year.
Day one, rainy. Went to search for a temple.. end up got lost in CBS and trapped in peak hour traffic in heavy rain.. SUCKED
Day two, got bored. After watching Pure Pwnage, i was inspired by the line,
What game do you play?
I play Wow.
So ah, do you play anything that take some skillz?
In wow, gear = /timeplay so i went and bought a strategy game.
Then i spend the next two days watching videos and reading about the strategies, but still find it too hard to even play against computer. After all, controlling an army of 20+ units while building and planning is just too dam hard for a noob==
Day 4, saw the sun finally. Went to the temple. Went to chinatown to fill up my supplies.
Lately, i've been listening to the essential lynard skynard collection. You see a bunch of hippie on the cover. I mean REAL hippies with long straight hair.. flare jeans and those flower tight shirts and glasses. Always wonder why these people got a les paul signature guitar. After listening to their music, they so dam deserve a les paul signature. They're rock and roll at it's best. Non of those 80s glam, or ACDC big yelling, it's just classic smooth rock and roll. You'll amaze at how a bunch of southerners can actually write up some decent lyric. Current favour is Curtis Loew.
Well I used to wake the morning before the rooster crowed
Searching for soda bottles to get myself some dough Brought em down to the corner, down to the country store Cash em in and give my money to a man named curtis loew Old curt was a black man with white curly hair When he had a fifth of wine he did not have a care He used to own an old dobro, used to play it across his knee Id give old curt my money, hed play all day for me (chorus) Play me a song curtis loew, curtis loew I got your drinking money, tune up your dobro People said he was useless, them people are the fools cause curtis loew was the finest picker to ever play the blues He looked to be sixty, and maybe I was ten Mama used to whip me but Id go see him again Id clap my hands, stomp my feets, try to stay in time Hed play me a song or two Then take another drink of wine. Chorus Yes sir On the day old curtis died, nobody came to pray Ol preacher said some words, and they chunked him in the clay But he lived a lifetime playin the black mans blues And on the day he lost his life, thats all he had to lose Play me a song curtis loew, hey curtis loew I wish that you was here so everyone would know People said he was useless, them people all are fools cause curtis youre the finest picker to ever play the blues Listen to it on the link below,

Bump into this online mockumentry series on the gaming subculture made by 2 Canadian guys.
One of them talks about himself being a pro-gamer, the other one just records. Start off as a joke, became the biggest thing in the gaming community world wide. Now they have their own crew, proper set, and live off the owning from their merchandise.
I suppose there's never been anything like it. Only koreans would want to watch a TV program on games, only chinese will publish novels on it... Geeks only go on to show their l33t pwnage moment or make a video on their n00b story and full stop. Well then again, if someone have such pro film editing skillz and script, they probably wouldn't waste time on being a video game geek.
You can tell these guys watch a fair bit of classic movies, parodies were made in context to the gaming world. You see someone struggle to eat rice with a Nintendo controller while he's hands are all shaking from too much training. He drops the controller and pickup the rice with he's hand, and the MASTER says if you want to eat like a dog, you can live and sleep outside like a dog...
Someone with a plastic laser guy point at the mirror and go, are you PMing me? there's no one else with this name, you must PM me..
In season 1 final, the main character receives a phone call from "Grubby" asking on how to beat "Gosu Nightelf Players". Later in that episode he also received a call from Moon...
No matter if your into FPS, RTS, MMO or just arcade Xbox, Wii, as long as you play video games before, you'll like this..
February 04 Weekend of Movie AppriciationHaven't seen anything good for a long time.
A bit hung over, a bit tired from 2 weeks worth of reckless stress.
Decided to give this weekend to watching some films i wanted to see for a long time, but never had the patient to sit down.
Saw "From dusk till dawn" , wasn't a bad film, but i would rank it towards the bottom of Taratino's films. I guess it just doesn't have that classic tarantino conversation, like pulp fiction and kill bills. I like george cloney, and Quentin himself pull of the same Quentin we see in all he's fansy sidekick personalities. I must admit, i've had too much expectation before it even began, after all this is one of them classics that people talk about. Just like how i was greatly disappointed by American History X. Great films, but your already hyped up after years of listing about it.
After that, i saw "Death Proof". Tarantino's new film. It wasn't bad. I actually liked it more than "From Dusk till Dawn". Would be smooth if he finish the film after the first half. Then again, he probably made it as a joke. In a 1970's theme, with young back alley hollywood girls. The conversation is good. I can't beleive how many films he manage to squeeze into people's conversation. The classic moment's got to be, "Hey, are you famous or something?" , "Yeah, something.", "I think i saw you on that Big Kahunna Burger bill boad.", "I did one for Zatoichi as well."
Then i thought, hey, i saw Quentin's new film, let's go check out this other classic director's new idea. So i saw Zodiac. Fuck, bloody David Finch. He had a shot with fight club and probably got overwhelmed by the suscess with he's special effects. So he went on and made panic room. When he should've stick to what he's been doing the best. Crime films. Remember Seven? That's what a decent crime film is all about. It's all up there with usual suspect, prime fear, silence of the lamb if not better. What is this panic room bullshit that we all thought he have lost it all.
Zodiac is an epic. The texture, the style. I can smell the late 1980's american cinema. It's David Finch. No one could've done it any better. I not a fan of this genre, but man, it's nice to see a decent length new film that can keep you entertained for all that 2 and a half hours. |
